Berni is a recognised clinical trials operational manager and researcher, with over 30 years global experience in the clinical trials arena, focussing on Asia Pacific for the past 21 years. She is a trained pharmacist with a PhD in Microbiology and has a strong academic research background. Over the last 8 years she has sat on the University of Sunshine Coast Human Research Ethics committee (and been Deputy Chair) and held board positions for not for profit organisations.
Her expertise lies in governance and strategy for drug development solutions, connecting people and teams to the relevant expertise. Berni has successfully led the development and implementation of innovative solutions, navigated clients through pioneering technology and processes, led initiatives through education and training, and directed research pathways for large pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organisations and government institutions.
Her recent endeavours include the development of regional single points of entry for clinical trials, and implementation of telehealth in conjunction with clinical trials for Queensland.
Berni's passion is ensure accessibility for all patients for new treatments and to oversee clinical trials into regional and remote Australian communities, and to this end she has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies..
